On Christmas eve 1978 thieves struck San Francisco, California's M.H. De Young Museum.  Four paintings were taken from the Dutch collection.

  1. De Lorme,  Dutch 1610-1673  Recovered Interior of St. Lawrence Rotterdam

  2. Rembrandt,  Dutch 1606-1669 Recovered Portrait of a Rabbi

  3. Van der Neer,  Dutch,  1603-1677 Recovered River Scene at Night

  4. Van de Veld,  Dutch 1633-1707 Harbor Scene


Although statutes for criminal prosecution may have lapsed, the one remaining painting is still considered to be stolen property.  If you have any information about this case please contact the appropriate officials.
